SINGLE ORIGIN

Messinia, Peloponnesos, Greece

Messinia, in the southern Peloponnese of Greece, is a land where ancient history and nature intertwine, a land where olive trees have stood for thousands of years. Here, the groves thrive in mineral-rich soil, kissed by long Mediterranean summers and cooled by the gentle breezes of the Ionian Sea. These natural gifts make Messinia one of the world’s most celebrated olive-growing regions and the birthplace of Tears of the Gods.

The connection between Messinia and olive oil runs deep into antiquity. Archaeologists at the Palace of Nestor in Pylos discovered massive clay jars once filled with olive oil, proof that the people of this region were cultivating and treasuring “liquid gold” over 3,000 years ago. In Homer’s epic poems, olive oil was praised as nourishment for warriors and a symbol of honor and wealth. Every harvest today continues that same story, carrying with it the heritage of both land and tradition.

When you taste Tears of the Gods extra virgin olive oil, you’re tasting the soul of Messinia.

A single origin that has nourished generations, from the ancients to the present.

My Story

Hi, I’m Andrew Lekkas, the founder of Tears of the Gods. This brand doesn’t start with me, it really starts with my grandparents. For decades, they’ve travelled back to our village in Messinia, Greece, every single year to prune, pick, and care for the same olive trees my grandfather and his parents planted with their own hands. It’s back-breaking work, but they’ve always done it with so much pride, knowing that the oil is truly special.

About five years ago, I started joining them each November for the harvest. I’ve learned the whole process of pruning, picking and pressing by being in the groves, following their instructions step by step. And honestly, it’s changed the way I see olive oil. It’s not just an amazing superfood, it’s tradition, it’s family, it’s something sacred, both for the health of the body and the soul.

Tears of the Gods is my way of honouring their hard work and keeping that story alive, while blending it with the myths and legends of Ancient Greece that inspire me. Every bottle is more than just olive oil; it’s generations of effort, love, and heritage, brought straight to your table.
